Visual arts have been a central focus for Alaina from her first days of fingerpainting! Her excellent eye for composition, colour, texture and presentation has been evident in her artwork throughout her life and came to the fore with an amazing passion when she began travelling in her early teenage years. Her trips to Scotland, England Mexico and China yielded a strong portfolio of images that earned her admission to the Langley School of Fine Arts as a grade 11 student.
As a photography major in this arts-focused school, Alaina learned fundamentals and advanced techniques of photography, darkroom techniques, printing, lighting and artistic effects that serve her well in the digital photographic domain she has claimed for herself.
Alaina's talent with digital imaging software allows her to retouch to perfection and to achieve amazing special effects. She continues to experiment with lighting, colour backgrounds and effects in the studio environment.
Alaina's specialty and indeed, her real pleasure, is in portraiture - children, adults, groups, weddings, boudoir - revealing the character, the essence, the soul of the subject.
